HYDERABAD: Call to improve law, order situation

HYDERABAD, Jan 5: Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain has said fist priority of the Sindh government should be restoration of law and order to attract foreign investment.

He was speaking to party activists by telephone from London at a musical concert, organized at the Kohinoor Chowk here on Saturday night to mark the “Yaum-i-Azm”.

He said Sindh had been facing water crisis for the last several years and lawlessness had prevented investors from establishing industries and other institutions.

The Muttahida chief said the appointment of Dr Ishratul Ibad as the Sindh governor was the first victory of middle class people of the province.

He directed the ministers of the party to serve the people without any discrimination.

He deplored roads and sewerage and drainage systems of Hyderabad district had been destroyed and the people had not been provided with proper health facilities.

Hussain said the Sindh government would make efforts to solve basic problems of the people.

He assured the people the newly-appointed Sindh ministers would work round-the-clock to launch development schemes in the province.

He said launching of uplift schemes and establishment of more industries would control unemployment in the province.

The Muttahida chief hoped apart from the water shortage problem, the Sindh cabinet would also try to resolve other agriculture-related problems.

He said the Muttahida ministers would visit every village in Sindh to serve people at their doorstep.

Different singers and artistes performed in the concert that continued till the early morning.
