Transporter, ASI arrested

MIRPURKHAS, Jan 4: The Town police arrested an ASI and a transporter here on Saturday after registering a case against them.

The ASI, Rajab Kalhoro, and the transporter, Kabir Panwhar, had beaten up police constable Abdul Razzak, who stopped them in a state of intoxication.

DPO Mohammad Amin ordered the arrest of both the accused and the registration of FIR against them.

He also suspended the ASI and issued a charge-sheet.

SUICIDE: A widow committed suicide by laying herself before the Shah Abdul Latif Express near the Ratanabad Railway Station here on Saturday.

The widow, Bhori Mai, 35, had no source of income for the last several months which compelled her to commit suicide.

Her body was sent to the civil hospital for autopsy.

FUNDS EMBEZZLED: The EDO, education, has revealed the principal of the Government Model College, Mirpurkhas, Mairajuddin Qureshi, and an assistant have drawn Rs55,000 out of the Information Technology funds of the college in their names without any lawful authority or permission of the higher authority concerned.

The EDO, Sadiq Bhatti, in letter to the principal, said during his surprise visit to the college, he found that record was not maintained properly and there was huge mismanagement in the funds.

He asked the principal to clear his position in three days regarding withdrawal of Rs55,000 through three cheques.

GRIEF: Allama Mohammad Shareef, Javed Ahmad Papa, Iftikhar Ahmad Arain, Dr Bashiruddin Ajmeri and others, belonging to the Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan, Mirpurkhas division, have expressed grief over the demise of the father-in-law of Allama Shah Ahmad Noorani.
