BAJAUR, Jan 3: A massive protest meeting was organized in Khaar, the Bajaur Agency headquarters, on the call of Muttahidda Majlis-i-Amal against the possible US attack on Iraq.

The speakers, who included religious scholars and tribal lawmakers, demanded the government and other Muslim countries to sever diplomatic relations with the US and its coalition partners and convene an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) to the save the Iraqi brethren from the impending catastrophe.

The meeting, attended by Ulema, MMA leaders and a large number of people, was organized at the main square after the Friday prayers.

The meeting was addressed among others by MMA Bajaur chapter Amir and MNA Maulana Mohammad Sadiq and MNA Sahibzada Haroonur Rashid.

The speakers said that the attack on Iraq would be considered an attack on the Muslim world and the religious-minded tribesmen would stand up against and the US and its allies.

They said that US was the biggest enemy of the Muslim world, who wanted to crush the Islamic movements launched against injustice, inequality and imperialistic designs of the coalition partners against the resources of the Muslim countries.

Sahibzada Haroonur Rashid said that the Muslim countries must sever diplomatic ties with the US and its allies in view of the aggression against a Muslim country. He said that after Iraq the US would turn its guns towards Pakistan.

After the meeting, a big procession was taken out. The participants of the procession also set fire to effigies of President Bush and Prime Minister Tony Blair.

FIVE ARRESTED: After the peaceful meeting and the protest rally, the Bajaur Levies force arrested five speakers and participants of the rally.

KOHAT: A big protest meeting was held here on Friday under the banner of the Muttahidda Majlis-i-Amal warned the US to stop “killings for oil” in the Muslim countries which can result in more serious repercussions for it than the Sept 11 attacks.

Mufti Ibrar, MNA, speaking after the Friday sermon at the shrine of Hazrat Haji Bahadar, also condemned the bombing of a Madressah in the border tribal area of South Waziristan Agency and demanded the US President George Bush to tender an apology to the local people for the act.

MANSEHRA: The Muttahidda Majlis-i-Amal staged a protest demonstration after the Friday prayers.

The protesters, including of the local leaders and workers of the religious parties, assembled at the main square of the city where they delivered speeches against the designs of the US and the Western world against the Muslim Ummah, especially Iraq.
