KARACHI: Dialysis unit opened at North Karachi hospital

KARACHI, Jan 3: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad on Friday reiterated his resolve for maintenance of law and order in the province besides provision of equal facilities of progress and welfare for people of all parts of Sindh.

He declared that very soon no no-go area would be found in Karachi as well as in the province.

He was speaking as chief guest at the inauguration of a dialysis unit set up by the city government at the Sindh Government Hospital in North Karachi on Friday evening.

The unit has been donated by Noor Foundation (UK), which had also given a similar unit to the city government for the Orangi Town.

City Nazim Naimatullah Khan, Naib Nazim Tariq Hasan, Chairman Noor Foundation Noor Mohammed Naqshbandi and the hospital’s Medical Superintendent Dr Ashfaq also spoke.

The governor said that regarding elimination of no-go areas, the Oct 8, 2002, directives of President Gen Pervez Musharraf would be implemented.

He said that he did not want to go into the acrimonies of the past. “Law exists for criminals and it will take its own course.”

He, however, said that no excess should be done with the family members of anyone. The law would be fully implemented in its true spirit as per order of the President.

Responding to the good wishes expressed by City Nazim Naimatullah Khan, Dr Ibad said that he would not lag behind as governor and would extend all support to the local governments in connection with development programmes.

However, he pointed out that strict monitoring of the development works and welfare projects throughout the province would be carried out and speedy execution of schemes would be ensured.

Dr Ibad told the gathering that immediately after taking over as governor he had met the City Nazim. He recalled that in the past too, as minister, his most time used to be spent outside the office, visiting development schemes.

He declared that full attention would be paid on development works not only in Karachi but throughout Sindh. The governor made it clear that whole Pakistan would progress if Sindh was developed.

He said that the objective of the government was to provide relief to the common man and in the very first meeting with ministers he had made it clear that all government departments should perform their responsibilities diligently and that they should be accessible to the people.

He stated that maintenance of law and order was the first priority of the government and writ of law would be established at all cost.

The governor said that although he was a representative of the federation but he would go all out to resolve the complicated problems of the province.

He said he had an uphill task before him but he was quite confident that with the blessings of Allah and cooperation of people he would cross all the hurdles.

Dr Ibad thanked the Noor Foundation for providing the dialysis unit and hoped that it would continue its mission for the welfare of humanity.

He appealed to philanthropists to follow the example of the Foundation and participate in such noble activities as only then our socio-economic condition can improve.

He said that if the public-private participation continued to collaborate in a similar way, our mission of 10 years would be fulfilled within just 2-3 years.

He promised all possible cooperation for the provision of facilities and solution to other problems of the Sindh Government Hospital.—APP
