KARACHI, Jan 3: Two security guards were killed in Cooperative Market at Saddar late Thursday night.
Those killed were Sher Khan, aged 65, and his nephew Sardar Khan, aged 30.
Police said that the two men worked as night watchmen at the market. Sher Khan had been working for the past 25 years, and his nephew had replaced another security guard about 15 days back.
After the market was closed around midnight, acquaintances of the two dead men used to come to the market to spend the night there. Some time late Thursday night the visitors had a fight with their hosts during which the visitors stabbed the uncle and the nephew to death.
Police said that the assailants escaped from the first floor by knocking down bricks. Blood stains were found on the escape route adopted by the killers.
The SHO Preedy said that when people present in neighbouring shops heard the cries of the injured security guards, they informed police.
Police broke the locks of the market from the back side and found the bodies of the guards lying in a pool of blood.
The dead men hailed from Mianwali.
The bodies were sent to Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Police suspected personal enmity to be a possible motive behind the killings.
