KARACHI, Jan 3: Sindh Professors and Lecturers’ Association (SPLA) demanded that some 1,000 vacant posts of lecturers in the province be filled.
The demand was made by the central president of the association, Prof Syed Riaz Ahmed, at a press conference, held at a local college on Friday.
He opposed the move to privatise the educational institutions and the formation of the board of governors in the province.
Mr Riaz suggested that like the other SAARC countries, the teachers in Pakistan should also be exempted from the income tax.
He demanded that the house rent, frozen since 1994, should be restored and the salaries and allowances of the teachers should be increased in view of the price-hike.—APP
