Foreign portfolio investment

ISLAMABAD, Jan 3: The opening market value of shares/securities at the country’s capital market as on November 25, 2002 was to the tune of Rs 15,8553.51 million, says a press release issued by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SEC) here on Friday, quoting official data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

According to the press release, SECP in its endeavour to provide maximum information to the investors in the capital market, had requested the State Bank of Pakistan to periodically release official data of inflows and outflows of foreign portfolio investment.

The SBP has released the following data for the period November 25, to Dec 4, 2002:

Opening market value of shares/securities as on November 25, 2002 Rs15,8553.51 million; Purchase of shares/securities from November 25 to December 4, 2002; Rs361.73 million; Sale of shares/securities from November 25 to December 4: Rs431.73 million; Net purchase/sale of shares/ securities from November 25 to December 4, 2002 Rs-71 million; Market value of shares/securities as on December 4, 2002 Rs15,818.79 million.—APP
