HYDERABAD, Jan 2: Chairman, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Lt. General Tauqir Zia will inaugurate the recently developed and renovated Makli Cricket Stadium Thursday (today) at Makli Thatta.
The Incharge, Makli Cricket Stadium, Syed Rahat Ali Shah has said that after development, maintenance and renovation, the stadium is now ready for national and international cricket matches.
He said that Makli Cricket Stadium was established in 1995 as a result of the efforts of former Deputy Commissioner Thatta, Fazalullah Pechoho, who generated funds from Sindh government and the sponsors for establishment of this stadium in Thatta.
Since its establishment over one hundred first class matches have been organised at this stadium while mini international matches including England-A v/s Pakistan-A in 1995, Bangladesh v/s Hyderabad Division in 1997, one day match of Asia Cup Under- 17 between Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka in 2000 and Maldives v/s Thatta-XI in 2000
Syed Rahat said that the final of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Grade-I Cricket Tournament 1996-97 between KCCA and LCCA was also organised at this stadium, which LCCA won as a result of career best bowling of Abdul Razzaque who got eight wickets in the match.—APP
