World Cup Trophy unveiled

KARACHI, Jan 1: The ICC World Cup Trophy was unveiled here on Wednesday at Marriott Hotel.

World Cup mania is already building up in the country and this event is begin awaited with tremendous excitement, since the game of cricket not only unites the masses arousing a feverish interest of people from all walks of life.

The trophy already exposed to the cricket fans in Burban, Lahore and now here, will visit all the 14 countries participating in this world wide event just like the Olympic Torch, before the tournament begins on Feb 9. 2003.

The Trophy will be on display in the lobby of the hotel for only a day and will then be flown to Sri Lanka on Thursday.

Jauhar Munir Shaikh, Franchise Director Pepsi International, one of the major sponsors of the World Cup, while talking to the newsmen said that an official song for the tournament has been composed by the popular Pakistani pop group “Strings”, will also be played at the opening ceremony.
