MMA to hold anti-US demo tomorrow

RAWALPINDI, Jan 1: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal has announced that it will hold protest demonstration on Friday against the possible US attack on Iraq.

The MMA activists will gather near Fawara Chowk after Friday prayers to stage protests against attack on Iraq.

A meeting was held here at the MMA office which passed a resolution calling for opposition to the US attack on Iraq and urging all the people to take to the streets against the aggressive designs of the US government. The meeting also discussed the arrangements to make the protest rally a success.

Various organizing committees were formed to finalise all arrangements for the rally.

The MMA leaders praised Pakistan and Qatar for opposing attack on Iraq terming it a bold decision. The participants of the meeting appealed to the Muslim World and the Organization of Islamic Conference to get united against the US aggression in the region.

They asked for a joint strategy on the part of Muslim countries to meet the US adventurism.

A REPORTER FROM ISLAMABAD ADDS: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal has decided to hold a demonstration in Islamabad against the US attacks on Iraq, on Friday.

A number of banners have been displayed at various points and crossings carrying anti-US slogans and inviting the faithful to join hands in the protest. The demonstration will be held after Friday congregation at Lal Masjid in sector G/6.

The protesters will be holding placards and march to Aabpara Bazaar to show solidarity with the Iraqi people.

“It will be a peaceful demonstration and the protesters will not resort to violent means,” said one of the organizers to Dawn.

He added that they would be able to draw people in large number for the sacred cause of peace.
