Growers demand compensation

SHIKARPUR, Jan 1: A protest demonstration was held by the growers of Deh Nau Wah, Deh Azeemabad, and Deh Ghari Haleem on Wednesday against the Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) for the non-payment of compensation for acquiring their land and the removal of local employees.

The protest was held in front of the main gate of the PPL purification plant, near the Rajo Choohan village, Lakhi Taluka, on Wednesday.

The demonstrators have demanded of the PPL authorities to make payments of the agricultural land acquired and reinstate the sacked employees.

TWO KIDNAPPED: Two brothers, Ravesh Kumar and Lal Mal, were kidnapped by four armed dacoits in the Karampur Laro village on Tuesday.

PRESS CLUB ELECTIONS: The annual elections of the Shikarpur Press Club were held on Tuesday. Rahmatullah Soomro, Agha Younus, Ghulam Murtaza Abro, Munawar Hussain Shaikh and Syed Ziaul Hassan Shah were elected as the president, vice president, general secretary, joint secretary, and treasurer, respectively.
