KARACHI: Young man killed in head-on collision

By Our Reporter

KARACHI, Jan 1: A young man died and four others were wounded in a head-on collision between two cars on Shaheed-i-Millat Road on Wednesday morning.

Police said that at around 6am, a Suzuki Alto (ADC-615) carrying Syed Kashif Husain, Owais and Obaid was going towards Tariq Road on Shaheed-i-Millat Road when a speeding car (ADL-109) coming on the wrong side on the road collided head-on with the Alto.

As a result of the collision, Syed Kashif Husain, 28, died and the two other occupants of the Alto were wounded.

The passengers of the Honda Civic, identified as Danish and Khan Ali, were also injured.

They were taken to the Aga Khan Hospital, where Kashif died soon after arrival. The other injured were admitted for treatment in the hospital.

The police said Obaid, who escaped with minor injuries, was released from the hospital in the evening.

The body of Kashif was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a postmortem examination, but the family refused to have the body examined, the police added.

A duty officer at the Tipu Sultan police station said the occupants of the Honda Civic (ADL-109), riding on the wrong side, were not in a condition to give their statements as the doctor described their condition as “not fit for statment”.

Family sources said Kashif, son of Syed Hashmat Hussain, had recently done his MS in IT from the United States. He was scheduled to fly to Dubai in the evening to join his new job there. He was buried in the evening.
