MMA expels MNA for backing Jamali

ISLAMABAD, Dec 30: Jamaat-i-Islami Amir and parliamentary party leader of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) in the National Assembly Qazi Hussain Ahmed has expelled an MMA MNA for supporting Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali during the vote of confidence on Monday.

Amir Maqam, a Jamaat-i-Islami leader who fought and won the seat on an MMA ticket from Shangla, was expelled from the Jamaat-i-Islami and the MMA by the Jamaat Chief.

In a statement issued here late Monday, the Jamaat chief said that Amir Maqam had breached the confidence and mandate of the people of Shangla who had given votes to him in the name of MMA and its symbol, book.
