RAWALPINDI, Dec 30: Rawalpindi proved rude hosts Monday, walloping Karachi Blues by 215 runs at the Pindi Stadium to collect maximum points from their Quaid Trophy Group-IV match.
Set a target of 341 for victory, the visitors were sent packing for 125 with Rawalpindi pacers Mohammad Fayyaz, Yasir Ashfaq and leg-spinner Shiraz Khalid snapping up three wickets apiece.
Fayyaz finished with a match haul of eight wickets.
No Karachi batsman could stand his ground and the home side needed only 46.1 overs to finish them off.
Earlier, Rawalpindi resuming their second innings at the overnight score of 183 for six extended their overall lead to 340, declaring their innings closed at 220 for seven.
Off-spinner Ali Mohammad captured one wicket for the day to return match figures of 5-88.
Meanwhile, Inam-ul-Haq scored a fine 129 and Faisal Naved hit 48 as Zarai Taraqaiti Bank Limited (ZTBL) managed a draw against KRL at the latter’s grpund.
ZTBL, starting the day at 28 for no loss and needing 352 runs for victory, batted out the day to finish at 278 for nine. Pacer Yasir Arafat claimed four wickets to add to his five he took in the first innings. He had match figures of nine for 178.
The drawn game in which KRL had gained first innings lead, earned them three points.
