SUKKUR, Dec 30: Cold gripped Sukkur, Ghotki, Kandhkot, Shikarpur and many other places in the interior of Sindh after the area received the first winter rain on Monday.

The rain paralyzed the business and civic life of the Sukkur city as the electricity remained suspended since the beginning of the rain at around 10am. The rain kept falling intermittently till 4pm.

The supply of gas to various city areas remained suspended for over 10 hours, affecting both the commercial and domestic consumers. Officials of the gas company said that gas supply pipes had developed several leaks and the supply had to be suspended.

All the roads were inundated by accumulation of rain water.
