Festivities banned


PESHAWAR, Dec 30: The NWFP government has banned “unethical” New Year celebrations and vowed to crack down on un-Islamic behaviour.

“The government is determined to ensure that no unacceptable activity takes place on the eve of the New Year,” an official was quoted as saying. “Any violation would be dealt with severely,” he said, adding that cocktail parties and music shows would be forbidden.—AFP
