Wapda staff hold rally

QUETTA, Dec 30: Hundreds of Wapda employees held a protest rally in front of the Quetta Press Club on Monday demanding the resolution of their problems including protection to staff during duty hours.

The protestors, led by Said Mohammad Lahri President Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Central Labour Union and General Secretary Mohammad Ramzan Achakzai, marched the streets.

Later, speaking to protestors, Ramzan Achakzai said that Wapda workers in Quetta, Khuzdar, Loralai, Dalbandin and other areas of the province were facing security problems as power thieves continue to attack Wapda staff who were unearthing their deeds.

He said that despite such attacks the government had not taken any action against these people who were taking the law a in their hands. He said that hundreds of illegal tubewells were installed in many areas which were being run with illegal power connections.
