KARACHI, Dec 30: “In today’s multi-threat environment at sea, a complete electronic warfare suite, housing support and countermeasure systems, is the need of the time for naval platforms. Pakistan Navy is already in possession of the state-of-the-art Electronic Support Measure systems and has enhanced its electronic warfare capabilities to meet the envisaged threat scenario at sea.”
This was stated by the Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Shahid Karimullah, while speaking at the annual prize distribution ceremony of the Pakistan Navy Communication and Electronic Warfare Proficiency Competition 2002, held at the Bahria Auditorium on Monday.
Electronic Warfare had become an essential part of the Information Warfare and it had already been practised by the advanced navies, including the Pakistan navy, he said.
He advised the communication operators to be mindful of the intricacies involved and move swiftly to meet the emerging challenges efficiently.
He congratulated the Karachi Wireless and Desron-25 teams on winning the competition and urged the other participants to continue the efforts as it was not the position that mattered but the knowledge gained through such competitions.
Earlier, the Director Signals, Commander Ghaffar Rana, highlighted the overall communication activities of the navy and the officer-in-Charge, communication school, Commander Liaquat Ali, gave details of the competition.
Later, the navy chief gave away prizes and trophies to the winners. The ceremony was attended by the officers and sailors of the navy.—APP
