PAAF forms commission

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, Dec 29: A development and promotion commission has been constituted by the Pakistan Amateur Athletic Federation (PAAF) at its general council meeting held at a local hotel on Sunday.

The meeting was presided over by the PAAF president, Maj Gen Safdar Hussain.

PAAF secretary Khalid Mahmood told Dawn that it was a land mark decision and hopefully would promote the sport at the grassroots level besides providing talented players for the national and international competitions.

He said the commission would work under the chairmanship of Brig. Tariq Mahmood Saddozai, a former athlete who had represented the country at Asian Games.

He added that all the provincial association secretaries were named as members of the body.

The commission would be responsible to organise Under-18 competitions and also suggest incentives for the national record holders, the PAAF secretary said.

Elaborating further, Khalid stated that the formation of the commission could be changed after every Asian Games.
