Arshad strikes twice

KARACHI, Dec 29: Mohammad Arshad struck twice to guide Malir National to a thumping 5-0 victory over Malir Student in the qualifying round of the All-Pakistan Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto football tournament Sunday.

Malir National raced to a 2-0 lead before the halftime whistle when Arshad fired home his first in the 12th minute and Mohammad Anwar slammed home in the 23rd minute.

Malir Student went further down when they conceded a penalty kick just four minutes after restart into second half which was converted by Mohammad Tariq.

Mohammad Abbas enhanced the ascendancy in the 52nd minute before Arshad got his double on 66 minutes to seal the fate of the game.

Two-goal Mohammad Hussain starred in Jalal Murad’s 2-0 triumph Sarhad Sports by scoring in the 11th and 57th minutes.

Mohammad Ashraf netted the match-winning goal in Jamal Mohammadan’s 1-0 win over Natha Khan Union, while Jalandar Sports defeated Janbaz by same margin thanks to a winner from Ejaz Ahmad.

Young Jamal beat Malir Star 4-3 on penalty shootout after both the sides were locked at 1-1 during the stipulated time.

Eid Mohammad scored in the 22nd minute for Malir Star only to see his effort cancelled out in 67th minute when Asif equalised in the regulation time.
