LAHORE, Dec 29: Opener Rizwan Aslam hit a career-best 209 to put Lahore Whites in a strong position against Gujranwala in the Quaid Trophy Group-III tie at LCCA Ground on Sunday.
Lahore Whites obtained a huge 260-run lead by declaring at 439 for nine with Rizwan, who began the day at 165, striking 27 boundaries during a marathon stay of exactly nine hours.
By close of play, Gujranwala were in deep trouble, losing four wickets for 125.
In other matches of the group, pace duo of Shahid Nazir and Sajid Shah shared eights between them to help Habib Bank score a 90-run win over Sheikhupura.
Meanwhile, a six-wicket haul by Sialkot’s medium-pacer Tahir Mughal left the match against Pakistan Customs evenly poised at Saga Ground.
Sialkot conceded a lead of 76 runs after making 179 in their first innings but hit back to bowl out Customs for only 102 in the second innings.
However, the hosts found themselves in deep trouble at 48 for four, still needing 131 for victory.
