BADIN, Dec 29: A robber, Razi Leghari, was shot dead after an hour-long encounter near the Sim-Nullah, Kario road bypass near here on Friday.
A drilling supervisor of an oil company, Asif Rajput, who challenged the robbers, was shot at and injured by the robbers.
Three armed outlaws, who had snatched a car (7861) from Mohammad Urs Mallah of Matli, were driving away towards Kario road when they were challenged by a policeman and the drilling supervisor.
Two of the robbers were riding a motorcycle alongside the snatched car.
The drilling supervisor was injured after the robbers took position in the nearby sugarcane field and opened fire on them.
Later, a police party encircled the sugarcane field and challenged the outlaws.
An hour-long encounter ensued, in which one of the car snatcher, identified as Razi Leghari, was killed.
The Tando Mohammad Khan police seized a Kalashnikov rifle and recovered the snatched car.
The body of the dead outlaw remained unclaimed at the Shaheed Fazil Rahu Hospital 20 hours after the incident.
