Probe against doctor, paramedics

Published December 30, 2002

SIALKOT, Dec 29: The Health Department has started a departmental probe against the Satrah RHC doctor and paramedical staff who were absent from duty at the time of arrival of Church attack victims of Chianwali village on Christmas night.

The probe has been started on the appeal of local Christian leaders.

A minor Christian girl, Razia Bibi, had lost her life at Satrah RHC due to the absence of the staff. She was injured seriously in a hand-grenade attack.

Meanwhile, sensitive agencies and police teams on Sunday recorded the statements of various people belonging to Christian and Muslim communities.

Christians blamed that local Muslim scholar Qari Muhammad Afzal and his sons were involved in the Church attack while Muslims strongly ruled out their involvement in the incident.

Christians continued to mourn the brutal killings of minor girls on Church attack near Daska. As of now, the law enforcing agencies are unable to find any solid proof against prime suspect Qari Afzal. A large police contingent remained present in Chianwali village to maintain law and order.
