PM reiterates support for Afghan reconstruction

ISLAMABAD, Dec 29: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali said on Sunday that Pakistan was committed to the reconstruction of Afghanistan and would continue to contribute whatever it could in this regard.

During a meeting with Afghan Information Minister S.M. Raheen, he said electronic media had a crucial role to play in increasing awareness among people and bringing them together.

He said the government considered giving assistance to Afghanistan’s efforts for reconstruction its duty.

He said Pakistan would be happy to assist Afghanistan in rebuilding its electronic media.

He asked Information and Media Development Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad to extend all possible help through Pakistan Television and Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation in this regard.

He agreed to a request by the visiting minister for help in restoring the damaged libraries, museums and archives in Afghanistan. He directed the culture ministry to extend help in this regard.
