PESHAWAR, Dec 29: The transporters have demanded to the government to make an adequate increase in the mini-bus fares by Jan 10, otherwise they will observe a wheeljam in the city.
The announcement was made after a largely attended meeting of the Local Mini-bus Owners Association here on Sunday.
Speaking to the transporters, the LMOA president, Yousuf Shah, said all the transporters were united on this issue and if their demand was not entertained they would observe a complete wheeljam.
Now, it was the duty of the government to enhance fares, he added.
He lauded the traffic police for providing them better traffic arrangements in the city. “Neither the police demand any graft nor impound their vehicles as it has been a routine in the past”, he claimed.
He criticized his rival group for working against the interest of the transporters and misleading them. He said that they would foil their all designs with their unity.
Owing to the higher prices of diesel, it was difficult for the transporters to charge old fares from the commuters, he added.
