HYDERABAD, Dec 29: Activists of the Pakistan Human Rights Foundation on Sunday staged a demonstration outside the local press club to protest against the acute shortage of water in Sindh.
Speaking on the occasion, the provincial coordinator of the foundation, Mehboob Sangi, along with Shaman Ali Khoso and Syed Anwar Ali Shah urged the president and the prime minister to save Sindh from total destruction by releasing its share of water.
They also called on the higher authorities to take necessary steps for elimination of unemployment.
The protestors demanded of the government to regularize the Katchi Abadis and exempting the poor Haris from payment of land revenue and water charges.
Condemning the murder of innocent people in tribal disputes and on the pretext of Karo-kari, they urged the government to enact laws in this regard.
RAILWAY WORKERS: Families of employees of the railway workshop on Sunday staged a demonstration outside the local press club to protest against the transfer of workers to remote areas.
They also condemned the sacking of workers and banning of unionism in the railways department.
SQS: Activists of the Sindhi Qaumi Saath on Sunday staged a demonstration outside the local press club in favour of the newly-appointed Governor of Sindh, Dr Ishratul Ibad.
Speaking on the occasion, Hafeez Qureshi and Fehmida Qureshi lashed out at people, who, according to them, were trying to foment unrest in Sindh on the basis of ethnicity.
They said that it was not for the first time that an Urdu- speaking person had been appointed as the governor of Sindh.
They said that a governor should be judged on the basis of performance on key issues affecting Sindh like acute shortage of water, lawlessness and spiralling unemployment and not on the basis of ethnicity.
