Saeed Anwar strikes form

LAHORE, Dec 28: Pakistan star Saeed Anwar scored a half century and pacer Rana Naveed-ul-Hasan took five wickets in the Group-I matches of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy on Saturday.

Saeed, bidding for place in the national squad for World Cup, made 58 as National Bank obtained a lead of 123 runs over Faisalabad at Iqbal Stadium, according to details available here.

NBP reached 295 in their first innings in reply to Faisalabad’s 172 with skipper Mushtaq Ahmed (62) and all-rounder Qaiser Abbas (87) also showing good form.

Meanwhile at Gymkhana Ground in Okara, Wapda’s Rana Naveed claimed five for 49 as Lahore  Blues were bowled out for 180 in their first innings in response to the powermen’s 243.

At Sports Stadium in Sargodha, Servis Industries collected 286 in their first innings after resuming the day at 217 for six. At stumps, Sargodha were 163 for  six.

Summarised scores of Group-I matches:

*At Gymkhana Ground, Okara:

WAPDA 243 in 61.4 overs (Hasan Adnan 100 not out, Tariq Aziz 42; Mohammad Khalil 4-66, Sajid Ali 3-65) and 55-1 in 15 overs;

LAHORE BLUES 180 in 74.3  overs (Latif Gohar 48; Rana Naveed-ul-Hasan 5-49).

*At Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad:

FAISALABAD 172 in 61.2 overs (Zeeshan Asif 59; Shabbir Ahmed 3-50, Imran Javed 3-23) and 41-2.

NATIONAL BANK 295 in 86.1 overs (Qaiser Abbas 87, Mushtaq Ahmed 62, Saeed Anwar 58; Farooq Iqbal 4-80).

*At Sports Stadium, Sargodha:

SERVIS INDUSTRIES 286 in 90.1 overs (Bilal Khilji 58, Sufian Munir 64; Ahmed Hayat 3-84, Umair Hasan 3-68);

SARGODHA 163-6 in 52.4 overs  (Mohammad Hafeez 38; Mohammad Irshad 3-33).
