SIALKOT, Dec 28: Satrah police on Saturday were succeeded in getting a three-day physical remand of main suspect terrorist Qari Muhammad Afzal from a special Anti-Terrorism Court, Gujranwala.

The accused was nominated in the case of killing three Christian girls in a hand-grenade attack on Presbyterian Church in Chianwali village (Daska) on Wednesday night.

The secret agencies, including CID and two police special investigation teams comprising experienced and senior inspectors, are busy in the investigation. However, no solid proof has yet been found against Qari Afzal.

Daska DSP Naveed Anwar Baloch told newsmen that more arrests were expected within the next 12 hours.

Meanwhile, memorial services of the deceased girls were held in Chianwali village amid tight security here on Saturday.

Bishop of Pakistan Javaid Albert, Bishop of Sialkot Semuel Pervaiz, central president of Pakistan Christians Writers Guild Yousuf Nayyar and others strongly condemned the terrorist attack on church.

Christian leaders expressed sympathies and condolences with the bereaved families over the loss of precious lives.

Punjab IGP Syed Masood Shah has ruled out the possibility of involvement of any banned militant outfit in the hand grenade attack on church near Daska.

TWO KILLED: Two persons were killed and as many received serious injuries in a fatal traffic accident near Imam Bukhari International Islamic University on Sialkot-Motra-Daska Road here on Saturday. A speeding bus (LOT-3565) going to Lahore from Sialkot collided headon with a van (LHP-8388) when its driver lost its control over the steering due to overloading. Consequently, two persons died on the spot and as many sustained critical injuries. The deceased were identified as Pervez Iqbal of Multan and Muhammad Saeed of Gujranwala.
