Private schools Ord rejected

MIRPURKHAS, Dec 28: The District Private Schools Association, Mirpurkhas, has rejected the Sindh Private Schools Educational Ordinance 2001.

The association, at its meeting on Saturday, adopted several resolutions, seeking amendments in the ordinance in the light of suggestions of educational experts and association’s representatives for improvement of the educational standard.

Speaking at the meeting, the general secretary of the association, Raza Ahmad Khan, said if the ordinance was enforced, private schools would be rendered closed as they could not fulfil its requirements.

He said 95 per cent of the private schools were running in the buildings, acquired on rent, and they could not fulfil the condition of building as per provisions of the ordinance.

He demanded of the president, Sindh chief minister and the education minister to exempt private schools, situated in small towns, cities and villages, from registration fee.

He said the date for registration of schools should be extended by three months.

Saeed Ahmad Qaimkhani presided over the meeting.

SEMINAR: A seminar on “Sanitation and Health in the light of Islam” was held at the Citizen Gymkhana Club here on Saturday.

The one-day seminar was organized by Unicef in collaboration with the Takhleeq Foundation.

The speakers said cleanliness could prevent the spread of germs of contagious diseases.

They asked people to burn garbage and drink boiled water.

KILLED: A man, Abdul Rehman, was shot dead under mysterious circumstances outside his house at Pak Colony on Wednesday night.

DOCTORS: A Muttahida MPA from Mirpurkhas, Shabbir Ahmed Qaimkhani, has called upon the secretary, health, Sindh, to appoint doctors on vacant posts in the Civil Hospital Mirpurkhas.

He said this in a press statement issued on Tuesday.

HESCO: The superintending engineer of the Hesco, Habibullah Khilji, held a meeting here on Saturday with the Hesco officials of the Mirpurkhas division.

He asked the officers to control line losses, which had exceeded 20 per cent in urban areas and 30 per cent in rural areas.
