Four die after taking liquor

By Our Correspondent

SIALKOT, Dec 28: Four persons died after drinking poisonous liquor and one after taking a cough syrup in Daska city during the last 24 hours.

Sources said the owner of Daska’s leading showroom of motorcars, Abdul Ghafoor and his two employees, Nasir and Arshad, died after drinking poisonous wine at the showroom.

In Muhallah Habibpur, a shopkeeper, Shakil alias Billa, father of four, died at his shop after drinking poisonous liquor.

A youth, Mohammad Azam, died in Haqpura after taking toxic cough syrup.

Heirs of the deceased claimed that the wine had been purchased from a notorious drug-trafficker in neighbouring Changa village and the cough syrup from a homeopathic medical store in Daska city.

The tragic deaths revealed that sale of poisonous wine had continued in Daska despite the fact that around 26 people died after drinking toxic liquor in Sialkot city and its outskirts on March 28.

People have protested against the failure of police and local government.
