KARACHI: Stinking water being supplied to FB Area

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Dec 28: Many houses in Husainabad, Federal B Area’s Block 2, have been receiving stinking water for the past 10 days, causing nausea and severe abdomen pain to consumers/residents.

Residents deplored that a number of people, particularly children and elderly persons, had fallen victim to diarrhoea and other stomach ailments after drinking contaminated water, but the officials concerned of the city government’s water and sanitation department had not bothered to rectify the problem.

According to them, a large number of houses, beginning from 74/2, Husainabad, were being supplied stinking water for the past 10 days.

Claiming that filthy sewage water was seeping into the locality’s water supply pipelines through leaking joints, they said the problem of contaminated water had become a routine matter in their locality as it had earlier occurred about three months back.

Residents are perturbed over the continuous supply of stinking water. They demanded of the City Nazim and the executive district officer of the water and sanitation department to instruct the officials concerned to rectify the problem of contaminated water without any further delay. They feared that delay in rectifying the problem would result in an epidemic of water-borne diseases in the locality.
