RAWALPINDI, Dec 27: Only 25 overs were possible on the first day of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Grade I match between Rawalpindi and Karachi Blues because of wet square at the Pindi Stadium.
When play began as late as 3pm, Karachi pacer Imranullah quickly snared three wickets to leave Rawalpindi tottering at 63 for three at the close.
Imran removed opener Waseem Ahmed for nought and also picked up the wickets of Babar Naeem and Mujhaid Hameed. But then Sheraz Khalid and Nauman Aman got together to do some damage control and both were unbeaten at the end of the day. Shiraz struck five fours in scoring 30 while Nauman was on 25, having hit three fours.
KRL, playing on their home ground, piled up 307 all out against Zarai Taraqaiti Bank Limited (ZTBL) thanks to Saeed Anwar Jnr’s 60 and a solid unbeaten 93 by Saeed bin Nasir.
Saeed Anwar cracked 11 boundaries in his 96-ball innings while Saeed bin Nasir smashed 16 fours in a knock that took him 139 deliveries.
Pacer Rao Iftikhar was the most successful bowler for the day, snapping up three for 83 with Fahad Masood and Faisal Naved taking two apiece.
