HYDERABAD: Corrupt being made ministers: PML-N

Bureau Report

HYDERABAD, Dec 27: The acting president of Pakistan Muslim League-N, MNA Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, has alleged that those people, who were involved in massive corruption and had looted and plundered the national wealth had been appointed ministers.

He was speaking at a gathering of the party workers in Latifabad, here on Thursday.

He said that when the time came, the generals, who had insulted their uniforms, would be meted out the same treatment, which was reserved for corrupt politicians.

He said that the army was held in high esteem by the masses but the same could not be said about the generals.

The PML-N leader said that the elected prime minister was sent into exile at gunpoint.

He said that the Muslim League had created Pakistan and it had made the country an atomic power.

He said that the generals, in the past, had created two political parties — the Republican Party and the Convention Muslim League — which had died after the ouster of the generals and added that the PML-Q would also die an automatic death.

Speaking on the occasion, Sindh PML-N chief Imdad Chandio said that the hidden hands and powerful forces were holding the entire country a hostage.

He said that forces had ensured the defeat of the PML-N in general elections in Sindh.

Others who spoke on the occasion included Imanullah Khan, Manzoor Ahmed Mughal and Imamuddin Khoso.

LABORATORY: National Fertilizer Corporation chairman Mohammad Mohsin has said 70 per cent of underground water in the country is brackish and situation in Sindh is even worse.

Speaking here on Monday at the ceremony of Kisan Inaami Scheme, organized by the NFC, southern region, Mohsin said the experts of his company had introduced a new technology to improve quality of underground water.

He said tube-well water would be tested at the NFC laboratory with a view to improving its quality for agricultural purposes.

He said computerized laboratories for testing water had been set up in Hyderabad, Multan, Peshawar and Lahore.

The NFC chief said the corporation had introduced the Inaami scheme in 2000, on which millions of rupees were being spent.

A tractor, two motorcycles, two television sets and nine cassette recorders were given to the farmers under the scheme.

Speaking on the occasion, NFC managing director Brig Chaudhry Shaukat Hayat said the growers of tail-end areas of Sindh faced more shortage of water.

FREE CAMP: The United Memon Jamaat, Hala, organized a free psychiatric camp at the Memon Charitable Hospital here the other day.

Renowned psychiatric Dr Abdul Hameed Memon examined and treated 127 psychiatric patients. A team of the local doctors also assisted him.
