LAHORE, Dec 26: International Shujauddin Malik established two new records as Wapda with 74 points retained the national weightlifting championship which concluded at Gujranwala on Thursday.
Railways with 44 points finished second followed by Army in third spot having secured 26 points.
Shujauddin improved two records, one in snatch and one in total weight while competing in the 85 kgs. His snatch of 145 kgs and total of 325kgs were all new records. The previous snatch record of 140.5kg was set up by Rahat Qayyum of Wapda. The total record of 322.5 kgs was held by Jamshed Arshad Malik also of Wapda.
Wapda claimed six golds, two silver medals while Railways grabbed two golds and three silvers. Army snatched two silvers and three bronze nmedals. Balochistan had one silver medal while Punjab two bronze medals. Police settled with two bronze medals while NWFP and UGC with a bronze medal each.

85kg: Shujauddin Malik (Wapda) 145NR+180=325; Qamar Hussain (Wapda); Haroon bin Rasheed (Police).
94kg: Abad Ali (Wapda) 140+170=310; Shahbaz Amin Malik (Railways); Rashid Aqeel Aslam (Army).
105kg: Kashif Hanif Butt (Railways) 140+165=305; Alam Din (Baluchistan); Naeem Butt (Police).
