BAHAWALPUR, Dec 26: Two alleged dacoits and a girl were killed and six others injured in a shootout between villagers and six bandits on Wednesday at Mauza Hazariwala near Musafirkhana, some 15 kms from here on Ahmedpur East Road.

Police said Naeem, Allah Rakha, Muhammad Hanif, Fauji Pubazari, Shahid Puppoo and Tufail had allegedly attacked the house of Haji Siddique to loot him. With the help of villagers, Siddiqui resisted and caught two accused Shahid and Tufail. To release their accomplices, the bandits opened fire and injured seriously Shabbir’s daughter Hamida Bibi (11) and six others. In revenge, the villagers shot dead dacoits Shahid and Tufail. Later, Hamida died in a local hospital.

Musafir Khana police have registered a case against the nominated accused.

DEPRIVED: A cashier of Lever Brothers on Thursday was deprived of Rs100,000 in cash by two armed unidentified motorcyclists here at Eidgah Chowk.

Shakil was coming from a bank after drawing the cash.

Civil Lines police have registered a case.

CASE REGISTERED: On the report of Haji Khurshid, Civil Lines police on Thursday registered an FIR for the alleged abduction of his two daughters.

According to the complainant, her daughters Asia Irum and Nadia Irum had gone for the tuition. Asia was the student of First year while Nadia was the student of 10th class.

WITHDRAWN: Chaudhry Zafar Iqbal on Thursday withdrew his nomination papers for NA-187 (Bahawalpur five) seat.

There are 10 candidates in the run even after his withdrawal.

CELEBRATIONS: Special functions were arranged on Wednesday at the Government Degree College and Comprehensive Girls High School and other places to pay tributes to the founder of Pakistan on the eve of his birthday.
