ISLAMABAD, Dec 24: Rain lashed the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Tuesday breaking the long dry spell and turning the weather colder.
According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Rawalpindi received about 21mm rain while in Islamabad it was recorded 14 mm.
According to the PMD forecast the current spell of rain will continue till next 24 hours.
Murree also received 1 mm snowfall attracting a large number of tourists from all over the country.
Many roads and areas in Islamabad were submerged due to choked drains. These included Zero Point Chowk, Abpara Chowk, Melody, Super Market, G-9/3 areas, Peshawar Mor, Sitara Market, etc.
The rain water spilled into the low-lying areas of both the cities causing trouble to the dwellers. The rain water also leaked into the mud huts in most of the Kutcha Abadis causing a lot of discomfort to the dwellers.
