ISLAMABAD, Dec 24: Foreign Minister Khursheed Mehmood Kasuri and his Iranian counterpart, Dr Kamal Kharrazi, on Tuesday agreed to increase regular contacts on regional and global issues besides enhancing bilateral cooperation.
During a meeting, they decided that the ministries should maintain regular contacts for promoting understanding and cooperation.
They reiterated the desire of the governments to develop brotherly ties and to develop cooperation in various fields.
They also exchanged views on the situation in South Asia, the Kashmir dispute and Afghanistan.
Kasuri briefed Kharrazi on the plight of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
He urged the support of the Ummah to the struggle of the Kashmiri people for exercise of the right of self-determination as enshrined in United Nations’ Security Council resolutions.
The ministers reiterated their support to the political process initiated in Afghanistan by the Bonn process and pledged their support to the reconstruction in the country.—APP
