Shariat enforcement in Malakand urged

By Our Correspondent

MINGORA, Dec 23: The Malakand Loya Jirga has demanded of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal government to enforce the Islamic system in the area, which they believe will pacify the people.

According to a statement issued on Monday, a meeting of the jirga held here resolved that efforts would be made for the enforcement of Shariat in the area. The jirga was presided over by its chairman, Khurshid Alam Khan.

The participants said that the MMA had been voted to power to enforce Islam and it was the duty of its leaders to do so.
