HARIPUR, Dec 23: Six people, including a cyclist were killed and five others sustained injuries in two road accidents here on Sunday night.

The police said that a speeding car (H-2250), carrying three basketball players from Sikandarpur village, crashed into a tree after hitting a cyclist near Afzal Market.

All the three passengers died on the spot while one of the injured cyclists, Abdul Waheed, who was hit by the car, succumbed to his injuries at the district headquarter hospital, Haripur. His companion, Sajid, was injured seriously.

Those who were killed in the accident were identified as Mohammad Abbas, Sajad Ahmad and Mohammad Azam, of Sikandarpur village.

In another accident, two persons were killed and four others, including two women and their two babies, were injured when their Mansehra-bound car rammed into a tree near Baldhair.

The deceased included the driver of the car, whose name could not be ascertained, and a resident of Mansehra, Malik Muneer.

The injured were shifted to the Ayub Medical Hospital, Abbottabad, in  critical condition owing to the lack of emergency treatment facility at the DHQ, Haripur.
