BAHAWALPUR, Dec 23: Twelve-and-a-half acres of state land for cultivation have so far been allotted to each 4,000 applicants in Cholistan.

This was disclosed by Cholistan Development Authority (CDA) Managing Director Maj-Gen (retired) Abdul Razzaq here on Monday.

He said about 5,000 more applications were being processed to ensure their genuineness.

Regarding the development schemes in the vast desert area, the MD said with the ADP funds of Rs60 million some 47-mile long roads, 19 turbines for pumping out sweet water, 11 wells and 71 villages would be electrified during the current financial year.

In addition, he said a 50-mile long pipeline was being laid from Malkana to Tofana to supply drinking water with an expenditure of Rs60 million provided by the Punjab government.

He said that 272-mile long water pipelines were also being laid to provide drinking water to a number of places in Cholistan with an amount of Rs300 million granted by the president.

HOMEOPATHY: The homeopathic mode of treatment will soon be recognized at the government level.

This was assured by MNA Farooq Azam Malik at a function held here on Monday under the auspices of Bahawalpur Homeopathic Medical College.

The MNA, MPAs Dr Syed Waseem Akhtar and Malik Iqbal Channar said they would work collectively for the uplift of the district and the city.

Earlier, Pakistan Homeopathic Association central secretary Dr Javed Awan complained that the government was adopting step-motherly treatment to homeopathy.
