LAHORE, Dec 22: The magnificent chestnut colt Squash Ball, with jockey M. Hanif in the saddle, caused the biggest upset of the season, winning the term race for two-year-old halfbred colts and fillies run over the sprinting distance of 1000 metres at the Racecourse on Sunday.

Owned by a former jockey Khurshid Baig and trained by M.I. Bostan, Squash Ball held off a strong challenge from his main rivals, fancied Super Star and second favourite Royal Gunner, showing a complete pair of heels to gain success on first outing. He clocked one minute 3 seconds over the distance.
Taking an early lead Squash Ball was closely challenged by his rivals. But once heads turned for the straight the chestnut increased his pace and finally defeated Super Star at the finishing post by three-fourth of a length.
