Umer Ayaz advances


PESHAWAR, Dec 18 (APP): Four qualifiers moved to the main round of the 22nd edition of Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) Khyber Open Tennis Championship, which got under way here at PAF Officer Mess Courts on Wednesday.

The four qualifiers are Umer Ayaz of Frontier Police, Inam Ullah of PAF, Ikram-ul-Haq and Younis Maqbool.

Umer in the first the main qualifying round defeated Amanullah 8-1 in the pro-set match while secured victory in against Muhammad Waqas Shabir 8-1.

It was one-sided affair as Umer took no time in reaching the main round after playing two qualifying matches.

Young Inamullah also took berth into the men’s main round after defeating Sami Ullah and Arif Khan.

Other results:

Under-18:Imran Maqbool bt Ali Haider Jaffari 6-2, 6-2; Sheikh Abdullah bt Manzoor 5-7, 6-2, 7-5; Omer Latif and Yousaf Latif received walk-overs.

Under-14: Tanveer Munir bt Sanaullah 6- 2, 6-2; Khurram Nazir bt Harris Mohammad 6-2, 6-2; Arshad bt Sajid Khan 6-2, 6-2; Fahad Ali bt Naeem 6-3, 6-3; Bashir Ullah bt Fahad Ali 6-3, 6-2.—APP
