Body of missing boy recovered

By Our Correspondent

NAWABSHAH, Dec 18: The body of a boy, Rameez Sharif Shaikh, 15, who had been missing for the last several days, was recovered from his neighbour’s house in Family Quarters here on Wednesday.

The five-day old body of Rameez was recovered by the police after Jabbar Shaikh, the neighbour of Haji Mohammad Sharif Shaikh (the boy’s father), informed the police that his son, Abid Sheikh, had kidnapped the boy and killed him in his house, and had stuffed his body in a steel box.

Mr Jabbar said that he along with his family members had gone to Karachi while Abid had stayed behind. Abid later joined them in Karachi and informed his father about the incident.

He said he rushed to Nawabshah to ascertain the facts.

THe police have recovered the body from the steel box and sent it to the People’s Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.

The accused told journalists that he was fond of playing the ‘parchi prize bonds’. This time, he said, he used Rs30,000, which belonged to his father, but did not win.

He said that in order to recover the loss he kidnapped Rameez to get ransom. When he brought Rameez to his house, the latter started crying so he clamped his mouth tightly blocking his respiratory system which resulted in his death.

The Nawabshah police had been informed immediately after the boy was noticed to be missing but they failed to find any clue regarding his whereabouts claiming that he had not been kidnapped.

No FIR had been registered by the police till the filing of this report.

BOY MISSING: A boy, Raheel Ahmed, 15, the younger brother of the photographer of the Sindh Information Department, Afaq Ahmed, has been missing for the last one week.
