Blasphemy accused convicted

FAISALABAD, Dec. 18: A local court on Wednesday convicted a Jaranwala blasphemy case accused and declared two others as absconders.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal Naeem awarded life imprisonment on two counts to Ihsanullah besides a fine of Rs 100,000.

According to prosecution, Ihsanullah, Akram and Bushra Bibi, Sardar Muhammad of Jaranwala desecrated Quran in June, 2000. When angry neighbours attacked their house, they managed to escape.

The Jaranwala police could arrest Ihsan while Sardar Muhammad died and Bushra Bibi and Akram were still not traceable.
