KARACHI, Dec 17: Satellite Star starts off as our day’s best, when the Winter Gymkhana Race Meeting gets under way at the Karachi Racecourse on Wednesday.
The four-year-old chestnut colt owned by Humayun Mirza and trained by Taj Mohammad, won his last engagement under jockey M. Nisar by a street, covering the five furlong journey in one minute 8 2/5 seconds.
Participating in the fifth race on the afternoon’s programme, Satellite Star should register another victory followed home by Reincarnated and Power Plus.
A total of six races have been drawn up with the first race beginning at 1.00 p.m.
Another colt that should not lose on Wednesday is the three-year-old chestnut Defence Academy participating in the third race in a big field of 16 runners.
Last week the chestnut partnered by riding boy M. Amjad, finished second, one length behind the winner Sachin.
Top weight Classic Beauty should grab the second spot from Reasonable with Royal Beauty and Mera Jugnoo joining the fray.
In the opener, Darbari Malang is fancied in our columns to get the better of the two heavyweights Abr-e-Noor and Miss Neutron.
Gharnata looks a good thing to make it two winners in a row for owner-trainer Mohammad Rashid, followed home by Sheroz-e-Sehar, Sunday Silence and Major Dandy.
Just in Fun with a good lad astride, should pick up the spoils in the fourth race from Silent Fire and Baby Tabassum, with Charismatic Eyes completing the frame. In the last race on the programme, Sajan Black with three successive victories already under his belt, will be fancied by many to bag the top honours. But then again danger lies in the shadows in the form of Ali Faisal Farooq’s dark bay colt King Cobra, although making his maiden appearance on the racing track.
Rajwar and Shama should battle it out in the home straight for the third spot.
