BAJAUR, Dec 17: More than 150,000 children of up to five years age will be administered polio vaccine during a three-day campaign which opened in the agency on Tuesday.
Speaking at a function held in this connection at the agency headquarters hospital in Khaar, Political Agent Pirzada Khan criticized the performance of the health department officials in eliminating the disease.
He said concerted by the department and international organizations, like United Nations Children’s Fund and Save the Children, were needed to ensure that the disease was eliminated.
He called on the international organizations and donor agencies to allocate special funds for the purpose.
He said that about 10 cases of polio had been detected in the agency during the year. He asked the health department to involve the people in the campaign. He said the department should make arrangements to train those people who volunteered to take part in the drive.
