Former CM’s nephew missing

By Our Correspondent

NOWSHERA, Dec 16: Abdur Rehman Khattak, a candidate for the slot of Union Nazim of Manki Sharif, and nephew of the former NWFP chief minister, Nasrullah Khan Khattak, is feared to have been kidnapped for ransom.

Dr Imran Khattak lodged an FIR with the Nowshera Kalan police the other day that his brother Abdur Rehman was missing along with his car (IDK-3838) for the past 24 hours. He told the police that his mobile cellular phone was also not responding.

District Nazim Pervez Khattak and the Nowshera SSP, who were supervising the search operation, did not rule out the possibility of kidnapping for ransom.

The police and other law enforcement agencies have intensified the search and also sent teams to the tribal areas to locate the whereabouts of the missing person.

BAR ELECTION: The National Lawyers Forum (NLF), a sister organization of the Awami National Party (ANP), defeated the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) and People’s Lawyers Forum (PLF) candidates in the district bar elections, held the other day.

According to official results announced by the joint election committee Advocate Shomar Khan Khattak of the NLF was elected as president of the Nowshera district bar by securing 55 votes, out of the total 138 votes.
