Dexter of ‘The Magnificent Seven’ dies

LOS ANGELES, Dec 16: US actor Brad Dexter, who appeared with Yul Brynner, James Coburn and Steve McQueen in the 1960 western “The Magnificent Seven,” died at his California Rancho Mirage ranch last week, the Los Angeles Times reported on Sunday. He was 85.

Born Boris Milanovich in Nevada in 1917, the handsome actor-turned-producer also was known for his roles in “The Last Train from Gun Hill” (1959), “Invitation to a Gunfighter” (1964), and “Von Ryan’s Express” (1965).

“I love playing the heavies,” he told the Times in 1965.

Dexter, who died on Thursday, was a close friend of Frank Sinatra and Marilyn Monroe, according to the Times.—AFP
