Jam discusses Dera situation with Bugti

By Saleem Shahid

QUETTA, Dec 14: The Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Mir Mohammad Yousaf held talks with leader of the opposition in Balochistan assembly, Jamhoori Watan Party chief, Nawab Mohammad Akbar Khan Bugti, and discussed the overall situation in the province, particularly in Dera Bugti.

The CM arrived at Dera Bugti in a special plane on Saturday with Chief Secretary Pervez Saleem and other senior officials of the federal and provincial government.

During the meeting, which lasted several hours at the Rest House of Nawab Bugti, they discussed the attitude of the gas companies working in Sui and other areas of Dera Bugti tribal agency, towards the locals.

The meeting observed that these companies had signed agreements with Nawab Bugti and other elders of the tribe to provide jobs and other facilities to the local population, but did not do so.

However, Jam Yousaf assured the JWP chief that in future all such agreements would be implemented in letter and spirit.

The JWP chief, while taking to newsmen in Dera Bugti after the meeting said: “The meeting was good. I am sure Jam sahib would do his best, but whether he would be able to deliver or not, is not known yet.”

On the other hand the CM said that he would do everything possible to help the people get their rights.

Jam said that he had informed the prime minister, about the Dera Bugti predicament.

He further said that the gas companies’ wrong advise to the government had resulted in the deployment of law enforcement agencies in Dera Bugti.

“They too are Pakistanis,” he said, “Islamabad and gas companies should have provided them facilities and brought them at a par with other provinces.
