Knee surgery for Tiger

PARK CITY (Utah), Dec 14: Golf superstar Tiger Woods underwent knee surgery Thursday that could keep him out of the season-opening event on the 20 03 PGA Tour.

According to Woods’ web site, the world’s top-ranked golfer underwent a successful one-hour procedure at HealthSouth Surgical Center to remove fluid inside and outside a knee ligament. Benign cysts also were removed in the surgery, which was performed by Doctor Thomas D. Rosenberg.

“I had been playing in pain for most of the year and felt it was time to take care of it,” Woods said on the web site. “From what I’ve been told, the operation went well. I’m looking forward to a full recovery and a great start to 2003.”—AFP
